Children have already participated in our first community event of the year; the Civic Parade and Service. On Sunday children from our Forces Friends Group paraded with our MKC Heroes Standard and children from year two sang as part of the service. We were all very proud of how the children represented the school and people remarked on the quality their singing and also the excellent behaviour of all the children
Poppy Wave - Plymouth Hoe
On Monday 2nd October children from our Forces Friends Group visited the Naval War Memorial on Plymouth Hoe to see, and think about, the Poppy Wave.
"Poppies: Wave, a sweeping arch of bright red poppy heads suspended on towering stalks, was originally seen at the Tower of London as part of the installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red. It can currently be seen at the CWGC Plymouth Naval Memorial.
The memorial is situated centrally on the Hoe, which looks directly towards Plymouth Sound. Commemorating the almost 7,300 servicemen and women of the First World War who have no known grave and the seamen of the Royal Navy who sailed from Plymouth, the First World War panels also bear the names of sailors from Australia and South Africa."
