Maths Challenge 4

This week's maths challenge is another challenge based in your home. It encourages children to count objects they can’t touch.

Can the children count, and then maybe write the numbers for the total numbers of -

  • windows in your home?
  • doors in your home?
  • cups in your home?

Children may make marks or record numbers on a piece of paper as they are counting so they do not lose count.

Extra Challenges

What other objects can they count in your home?

Can they count something in your home and then in a friend’s or relative’s home. Who has more? Year Two may be able to identify the difference between the two amounts

e.g. My house has 8 windows, my auntie’s house has 10 windows. My Auntie’s house has more windows. My auntie’s house has two more windows.
