Lockdown Learning - Resources Year One
These resources are here to supplement the Lockdown learning pages. They do not need to be printed.
A handwriting guide for parents - this will support you to help your child start their letters in the right place and be ready to join towards the end of Year 2. Each class page also has some handwriting videos to help your child.
Our three phonics mats - these are to help with reading and writing ( your child may know the sounds on all or some of these mats). Please encourage them to say short sounds...you already have infomation about this in your child's reading book.
There are some words that do not follow phonics rules- they are called 'the common exception words'. We have attached sheets of these words. You could use these sheets to play spelling games with your children. Our advice would be to find out which ones your children already know and then look at fun ways to learn a new one each day.
Please continue to read with your child every day and ask them questions about the main characters and events. It is so important for children to continue their love of reading as a lifelong skill. We have included reading prompt sheets for you help your childs reading.
We have also included some maths learning resources
