Geography

We have used the curricula that are published by the Government to create our own progressive geography curriculum that inspires our children.

We ensure that:

  • It gives children the geographical skills and knowledge needed to explore the world.
  • It engages the children’s curiosity to encourage them to ask, and find answers to, their questions.
  • Teaching equips our pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with an understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

Nursery and Reception

In Nursery and Reception we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). With support from the Development Matters publication to inform our own school curriculum and to help staff identify ways of working that enable children to demonstrate the typical behaviours for their age.

We ensure children can make sense of the world around and where they live. We begin to use technology and develop an understanding of how things work.

Key Stage One

Geography inspires in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Providing pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with an understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
