Geography and Understanding The World
Early Years Foundation Stage
We ensure that children can make sense of the world around and where they live.We begin to use technology and develop an understanding of how things work.
Last term our learning was focused around 'belonging' and how we communicate this. We took part in many celebrations locally and from all over the World. We respect and value that our beliefs are all unique and different.
Key Stage One
Geography inspires in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Providing pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with an understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Year 1 have been exploring the Earth and how positioning affects whether it is day or night time. We compared the climate and day light in Torpoint to Australia.
Year 2 used compass directions and looked at maps of Cornwall to plot and find lighthouses. They read clues and identified landmarks to support.
