Firstly, we would like to welcome your child into Torpoint Nursery and Infant School, we are delighted that they will embark on their learning journey here with us and look forward to welcoming them into our school family from September 2021.
To help you and your child begin your journey with us we have created this area on our website.
Using the tabs at the top of this page you can find a mix of the practical information you need; together with videos, documents and photographs to help you and your child get a feel for what school life will be like when they start with us in Reception.
The website is just the start; we really understand the importance of your child being able to visit scchool and also know that it is important for you as parents to be able to visit their classroom and meet their teaher. To enable this to happen we have adapted our transition procedures to ensure that this can take place in a Covid safe way.
Key dates
We are continually reviewing our transition procedures to ensure they remain Covid safe, following all current guidance from the DfE, whilst ensuring that your children have a successful start to school in September. As a result, we have had to very slightly adapt our original plans to reflect the most recently published guidance.
We had originally planned to deliver an information evening for all parents in school but this will unfortunately now have to take place online. All information that you will have gained about your child's start to school in Reception will still be available but will instead be shared via a virtual presentation which will be uploaded onto our website.
We are still planning on inviting both you, and your children, in to school in July to visit classrooms and meet teachers. We will be doing this in very small groups to ensure we adhere to social distancing guidelines. We will, however, need to keep this under review dependent on the guidance that we must follow from the DfE and will inform you of any changes as soon as we are able to.

It is also important to note that as part of the transition into school in September, and to enable your child to start school in a calm and settled environment, we have devised a staggered intake over the first five days of the term. This will allow the children to enter in small groups, become familiar with school routines and feel secure in their classroom. The date your child is due to start school will be emailed to you on the9th June (see above timetable).
