Autumn Term- There will be a meeting between you and the class teacher (Parental Consultation), an opportunity to look at your child’s new Learning Journey and a written report. You will be given the Learning Journey book from the previous year to take home and keep. Children of parents in Year 1 will also be given the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile from their child’s Reception year to take home and keep.
The Parental Consultation takes place before the October half term and is an opportunity to discuss how well your child has settled into the new class.
Summer Term- This is slightly different as the Parental Consultation takes place very close to the end of the school year (July) and we arrange for the meeting to be between yourselves, your child’s current class teacher and the teacher that they will be having the next year.
You will receive a new written report for the Summer Term but it will also have the reported from the previous two terms, so giving you a complete report for the whole year.
In the Summer Term meeting we will also share the results of statutory assessments with you
If your child is in a Reception class you will be told how well he/she has achieved against the Early Years Foundation Stage profile which assesses each child across all areas of the curriculum that they have been following.
If your child is in Year 1 we will give you the results of the Phonic Check that all children undertake in June.
If your child is in Year 2 we will give you the assessments against Reading, Writing, mathematics and science, along with the National results for children of this age. You will also be given your child’s learning Journey Book to take home and keep.
All schools with EYFS and KS1 children are visited by Local Authority representatives to ensure that the assessments made by teachers are in line with national assessments. Our assessments and all the different aspects of how we assess and then share information with parents and children have been judged to be exemplary.
